ChronoFlex® Biodurable Polyurethane
The ChronoFlex® family of medical grade polyurethanes has been developed to overcome the in-vivo formation of environmental stress cracking (ESC).
Conventional ether based polyurethanes (e.g. Pellethane®, Estane®) have been found to be susceptible to biologically induced ESC.
ChronoFlex® biodurable polyurethanes are at the forefront of a new generation of ether-free, thermoplastic polymers, whose polycarbonate derived structure is not susceptible to ESC.
ChronoFlex® is available in three specific formulations:
ChronoFlex® AL: Fact Sheet

- ChronoFlex® AL is an aliphatic, polycarbonate thermoplastic polymer available as pellets in hardnesses ranging from 80A to 75D.
- ChronoFlex® polymers are custom synthesized and may be tailored to suit specific customer requirements.
ChronoFlex® AR: Fact Sheet in HTML
| PDF
- ChronoFlex® AR is a solution-grade, segmented, elastomeric, aromatic, polycarbonate polyurethane designed for use in solvent casting and dipping applications.
- ChronoFlex® AR is custom synthesized and supplied as a solution.
ChronoFlex® C: Fact Sheet in HTML
| PDF
- ChronoFlex® C is an aromatic, polycarbonate thermoplastic polymer available as pellets in hardnesses ranging from 80A to 75D.
- ChronoFlex® polymers are custom synthesized and can be tailored to suit specific customer requirements.
Potential applications for the ChronoFlex® materials include all short and long-term implantable devices that are processed by conventional thermoplastic processing techniques and equipment.
