Antimicrobial Polymers

AdvanSource Biomaterials has developed antimicrobial extension product lines to compliment the ChronoFlex and HydroMed product families. Through proprietary manufacturing techniques, the company has produced materials which allow for homogenous dispersion throughout the polymer, thus resulting in long-lasting and consistent activity. The end result being a technologically advanced antimicrobial material which reduces the potential for foreign body patient infections, has a higher kill rate and is less susceptible to bacterial growth and biofilm formations. A non-pharmaceutical antimicrobial agent is used which stable in subsequent heat processing for end-product formation. [fact sheet]

PolyBlend™

PolyBlend is a family of extremely soft, extrudable and injection moldable aromatic polyurethane elastomeric alloys, ranging in hardness from 45 Shore A to 80 Shore A. This product line offers outstanding physical and mechanical properties including low flexural modulus, high tensile strength, and moderate elongation.

Radiopaque Polymers

The company offers further product specialization through the addition of radiopaque agents to its products. Through proprietary manufacturing processes, the radiopaque element is added during the polymerization process which facilitates its dispersion throughout the polymer without the requirement for a secondary compounding step, thus providing a homogenous material. Radiopaque product line extensions may be tailored to meet product requirements and may contain up to 25%, by weight, of a radiopaque agent thus allowing varied-scale visibility options.
